The COMPUTATIONAL-1 or COMP-1 phrase is specified for internal floating-point items (single precision).

COMP-1 items are 4 bytes long.

The sign is contained in the first bit of the leftmost byte and the exponent is contained in the next 8 bits.

The last 23 bits contain the mantissa.

For conditional expressions, the class condition cannot be used for COMP-1 or COMPUTATIONAL-1 internal floating-point data items.
